BAYWATCH CHICAGO
In this artwork, two seemingly disparate worlds are brought together in a surreal and thought-provoking way. At the bottom of the image, we see a iconic Lifeguard house of Venice Beach, Los Angeles, a symbol of California’s laid-back beach culture and surf scene. But as we move our gaze upward, we are confronted with an unexpected sight: the skyline of Chicago, turned upside down and towering above us.
In this juxtaposition of two very different landscapes, we are invited to contemplate the ways in which our perceptions and assumptions can be turned on their heads. What does it mean to challenge our preconceived notions of place and identity, and to embrace the unexpected and the unknown? How can we learn to see the world through new eyes, and to appreciate the beauty and diversity of all the cultures and communities that make up our global family?
